In 1973, Lamar relocated to South Carolina and founded his own gospel group - The Gospel Serenadors. Since that time, the group has recorded many albums/cds on such labels as Seventy-Seven, AIR, and Shurfine. They have also traveled widely along the east coast. In 2000 Lamar founded his own label--PoChild Productions. When he was younger, having spent his young adult life in Washington, D. C., his friends affectionately called him 'pochild.'
