Don't get me wrong, I love my Withings Move (Plastic Case, White/Blue Color), but you need to make sure you understand a few things before purchasing...It's a plastic case with a plastic 'crystal' (for lack of a better word). And because of that it scratches incredibly easy. I scratched it within the first few weeks and was bummed, but got over it. Over the last ~8 months it's acquired many more small scratches that aren't really noticeable until you look at it in the light and see the shadow of the scratches reflected on the white watch face. I actually took it to a few watch shops to see if they would replace the 'crystal' with a real crystal, but they wouldn't touch it because it's a smart watch. The stated battery life of 18 months was a joke (for me) and I needed to replace the battery after less than 6 months. I contacted Withings support and there was no warranty recourse as the stated 18 months is "...with the most conservative usage scenario." I will say that my battery might have drained more than a typical user as I wear this every night to track sleep and have a vibrating alarm at least 5 out of 7 days a week. That said, I almost never use the workout/activity tracking function (where you press the button twice to begin an activity).I would also note that the silicone / rubber strap on the watch irritated my skin after a while (could be just me). However, I was basically wearing the watch 24/7 for tracking/time in the day and sleep tracking/alarm at night and morning. I bought some 3rd party woven nylon straps and haven't had the same issue (though the watch doesn’t look nearly as good as it does with the blue bands). It's likely due to accumulated sweat + silicone band.Lastly, I just today ran into an issue where my hour hand stopped working. I went through all the steps of trying to sync, adjust it, factory reset, etc. and have contacted support. We'll see what they say and I'm still within my 1 year warranty for a few more months...So with all those negatives, why am I still on the fence? Because:• The watch is stunning and I've gotten more compliments and questions about it than any other watch I've owned. I also love that this doesn't look like an Apple Watch / Samsung Gear / moto360 or some other techie device -- it's simple, clean, elegant and easily slips under a dress shirt cuff (i.e., it’s not bulky or thick).• It's very affordable (as far as watches go) and once I got over worrying about it getting scratched (because it did) I didn't have to baby it and can wear it everywhere (e.g., working out, paddle boarding, swimming, sleeping, work and the board room).• Sleep tracking. look, I don't know how accurate it is as I have nothing else to compare it to, but I do think it's neat to see how long I've slept, what was light vs. deep, any interruptions, etc. And even if it isn't that accurate, it's at least consistently inaccurate so I can compare my sleep quality on a relative basis over days/weeks/months.• Smart Alarm. I searched high and low for something simple that I could wear at night, track my sleep and provide me with a vibrating alarm so as not to wake the spouse in the morning. And this hit the mark perfectly. Now the 'smart' part of the smart alarm probably depends on how accurate the sleep tracking is. I can probably count on one hand how often it's woken me up in the middle or near the end of the alarm window that I set, but then oftentimes I don't set a big window. So that's where I'm at. I still wear this daily, mainly because it tells time, looks simple and elegant, tracks my sleep and wakes me up with the vibrating alarm. I would happily pay more for a sapphire crystal however, and did see that they have a 'Timeless Chic' version that came out which includes a steel case and mineral glass, which at $10 more than the plastic version (sale right now), I might have to purchase and try out (but only after I hear back from Withings support on my current hour hand issue). Also, from some very limited research, it looks like mineral glass scratches much easier than sapphire crystal, so hard to say if it ends up being any more scratch resistant than the plastic 'crystal' ¯\_(ツ)_/¯I received my watch on August 5th. It is now August 28th. Which doesn’t sound at ALL like a minimum of 6 months. So, the advertised 18 months of battery life, that turns into six months when you read the manual, turns out to be about three weeks using only two features. I use it for step tracking and sleep monitoring, three if you include the time. I have never used GPS. Three. Freaking. Weeks. It says I have three months now using the same features I use now, which appears to mean dead day after tomorrow. I love the watch. Looks cool for the price, kinda has this Swatch thing going on. Seems consistent…the app is truly excellent. Now, this. $10.00 or so a month for the privilege of using an otherwise basic tracker was NOT what I had in mind, and purchased figuring that promised “up to” 18 months on a battery, I should get about a year. Withings won’t be ashamed of themselves…and they should be. A great product in virtually every other way, this one is doomed to the drawer where failed trackers go to die. And far too soon.PS-the IQ Shield screen protector works great to prevent the plastic screen from getting scratched up and it’s cheap.Previously had a Withings Activite Pop which was both functional and an attractive looking watch. Unfortunately it stopped working and, living abroad, the logistics of getting it repaired would have been expensive. Decided to try the new Move, as I really like the hybrid smartwatch category Withings is pursuing (I don't need another screen or another device to charge everyday). I've been using it for a couple months now and I'm mixed on it overall. First impression out of the box was disappointment. While the design is nice, the materials are much cheaper feeling than the Pop's. In particular, I was disappointed with the plastic instead of glass dome. I expected it to scratch soon, and was absolutely correct. I don't know how much was saved, but to me it wasn't worth it. Functionally the watch works the same as the Pop and I'm a big fan of the Withings app. The Move has a function to check the route / elevation / pacing of your walks / hikes, but it relies on your phone's GPS to do so. One minor quibble, the battery life isn't quite as advertised. One function I really like is the alarm clock. I find that waking up to a vibration on my wrist is preferable to any alarm clock or ringtone. Unfortunately, after two months it inexplicable stopped working. Only after reseting the device did I get a message stating that the battery was too weak, and while activity tracking would continue working, the alarm no longer would until the battery was replaced. Not major, but still I didn't think I'd have to replace the battery so soon. Also, while I don't care much about sleep tracking, I do need to note that it doesn't seem to be very accurate. Anyhow, in the end I wish I had tracked down another Activite Pop or one of Withing's more expensive, more sturdy models. The watch face is plastic which is great for weight but scratches very easily. Screen protectors are a must for this watch. But I still love it!I would have given 5 stars here for the product itself however when I created my new account in the supporting app (day 1, minute 1 of having my watch) it already showed that there was about 2 weeks of data (steps and exercise tracking) in my profile! Which is all supposed to be uniquely linked to the device, to be clear on why this bothered me. Granted, it didn't appear to be used- it looked brand new. What I found odd was there was seemingly no way to delete the data so now it was a part of my profile, making it inaccurate to start out. I have emailed their support to try and sort that out. Having said that, the feature I find most useful is the sleep tracking. It's great to see how much deep sleep I am getting and for how long. I also like being able to set a "steps goal" and see my progress right on the watch throughout the day without having to login to the app. I really like the design of the watch as well, very sleek. Overall, 4 stars.Yesterday my battery gave me a warning, saying it was now on power save mode and that I had three months to replace the battery. I replaced it today. So the battery only lasted 4 months in total, whereas it's supposed to last 18. (I do sync the watch almost daily, which uses Bluetooth and therefore battery). That being said this is the most useful sleep tracker I've found given that you don't have to recharge it.The sleep data isn't perfect; it sometimes thinks a morning meditation is me going back to bed (fair enough) but also it doesn't notice afternoon naps, even if they are a few hours. The strap isn't lovely so I put a leather one on and it's now pretty good.If you want to record exercise you have to press a button at the beginning and end of the exercise. If you want to record sleep without having to recharge your device often, this is really very good, but if you want exercise data id go elsewhere. Also the watch can update time zones by syncing with your phone when you go abroad, which is pretty cool.Wish I could turn off the step counter, but not an option. Annoying for me as it's just wasting my battery.Someone charged me £20 to replace the battery which I think is a rip off, next time I will do it myself CR2340 batteries are cheap on AmazonI already have a Withings "Pop" which I've had for a long time and got on well with, so I thought I'd treat myself to a better version. I'm a bit disappointed as I don't find it better, in fact I don't think it tracks as well as the original. Added to that the battery ran out quite quickly and, as shop are closed just now due to the pandemic, I can't get it replaced. It's impossible to replace it myself - there doesn't seem to be any way to remove the housing without professional tools - another minus as I can easily replace the battery in the "Pop" I has put me right off the brand now and I will look for something else entirely.I was thrilled to receive this through quick delivery, well packaged and in a cute case. I already have the Withings BP machine with their app, so this was so easy to add-and the functions on the app are brilliant. I have to get my BP down. This tracks exercise as well as my sleep so I can make changes. It was also very easy to connect to the Weight Watchers App which helps to further analyse and gain points on WW for rewards. I love that I can set my goals, that I can see my progress through a percentage guage on the watch face-a wonderful hybrid. I chose it as I felt it went well with both athletic wear, casual and business. However, I am just a little heartbroken that after only a few days and without anything that normal activity-just long walks, not other exercise yet, the face of the watched is scratched. I just can't figure how this happened so easily. I would therefore recommend a protector cover-it is a bit late for me, but a tip for you. Otherwise-it rocks. The watch I bought does NOT track swimming. I owned a Withings Activite Pop for years and I know how it should work. Indeed, swimmign was the principal activity I wished to track. None of my swim sessions register on the app using this model of watch. The "customer service" I received has been appalling - they keep telling me they can find no fault and their "developers are looking into it". Either it is defective or it is being mis-sold as a device capable of tracking swimming. Withings can not have it BOTH ways.Looks nice, keeps time well and easy to sync with the app so gives you an idea of your activity and sleep levels. Can add different activities and set yourself goals easily on the app and it lets you know how you are doing. However, I guess the watch contains a movement detector and the app does all the calculations so it is not very accurate. Regularly my phone will tell me I've walked over 2000 steps more than the watch says, and I don't carry my phone when I'm at home or work. Battery lasted 6 months then stopped recording sleep patterns first whilst watch was still working for telling the time. In summary it's good value if you just want a quick comparison of activity/sleep patterns but if you want accuracy you will need to spend more.Added later: step count is appallingly inaccurate unless you swing your arms like a lunatic when you walk. So generally walking around your house or if you are carrying anything your steps do not count. But you can shake your arms and these count as steps! Disappointed.
