Sarina Bowen was an author I discovered last year and since then I haven’t looked back, reading every book she has written. To pick a favorite seems impossible, but if I had to rank them I’d say Rookie Move is tied for first. From the first page I was hooked. It’s a second chance romance featuring two people who are now working together!Leo Trevi has been working hard, busting his butt in the NHL, just waiting to be called up. Until the day he does. Being on the Brooklyn Bruisers should be a dream. And it is, until Leo meets his coach and his new publicist. The publicist is the girl that he’s never gotten over, the one that broke his heart in high school and didn’t look back. And the coach is her father, the man who used to love Leo until he didn’t, now he wants Trevi gone. So, not only does Leo have to prove himself on the ice, but he also has to find a way to get back in his coach’s good graces (or at least, not doing anything to piss him off) and find a way to reconnect with Georgia. She might have be the one that got away, but she definitely isn’t the one that has been forgotten.I devoured this book. From the first page, I was sucked in. Sarina Bowen has a writing style that easily draws readers in, her writing is effortless and impactful, entertaining yet emotional. She writes books that deal with real life, her stories and characters feel so real. Leo Trevi feels real (and it’s really had to accept that he’s not).I fell in love with this story, with Leo and Georgia as they went on their journey for a second chance at what they once had. I fell in love with Leo. He was the sweetest and most caring guy, but don’t be fooled. This was one dirty, flirty talking man. When I’m talking about Leo on social media or texting my friends, it’s always with the heart eye emoji and the fire emoji. They are the perfect summery of who Leo is.And Georgia, she’s such a strong woman, so strong! She has a past that has changed who she is, but she doesn’t let it define her. She’s dedicated to her job, to her friends, to her family. And she doesn’t want to get close to Leo again, but like Leo, she’s never been able to forget or get over him. And when people are meant to be, fighting will only get you so far and igniting the sparks along the way. This book was everything I wanted it to be. It’s also a great introduction to Sarina Bowen’s work if you haven’t picked up a book by her before. It’s sweet, sexy, funny, steamy, angsty, and addicting. You’re not going to put Rookie Move down until you reach The End.
